Annie had her second litter yesterday.
Annie is such a good mama. She is very attentive, and very protective. At this stage, Me and the other dogs are not permitted to even look at them, without a resounding growl from mama. She will allow Richard to look, touch and hold her babies. He brings her water and cleaned up after a long labor and delivery. She's his baby (and she knows it).
Dolly (our 7 month old pup) was told yesterday, "you're a big sister" She doesn't know what that means, other than "Mom growls at me anytime I get near that box". In 4 weeks, she will get to play with them and help MamaAnnie and GrandmaLucy train and socialize them. Until then... Dolly Doodle is still very curious. Bentley and Lucy are cautious and avoid going near the whelping box.
Aren't dogs interesting?
