It's always exciting when the puppies open their eyes for the first time. Also their little ear flaps have opened and look like actual puppy ears. They are quite noisy. They make very loud sounds when nursing. You can tell they are enjoying their dinner, for sure.
Annie is such a good, attentive mama. She now allows me to look in the box and even hold or adjust a puppy. Richard changes the bedding each morning and I must say, they aren't soiled too badly.
COLORS! Lots of different color combinations with this litter!
One solid Black, two are black with white markings, and one may have a little merle. (Not sure yet), two are chocolate and two are light. You never know what color they will end up being. I hesitated to call any of them White. Gretchen looks alot like Dolly when she was 2 weeks old. I thought Dolly was going to be white. Ha! She's as red as Lucy, now.
You never know what your gonna get.
They are up and walking around too. Its so cute and comical watching them hold their heads up and take off walking.
Next week, I expect Annie to spend less time in the whelping box and the puppies will occupy more and more of our time. Thank goodness for our energetic grandkids :)
Please, don't get upset if I don't get on here to update you, next week.
Our #1 priority is making sure all of the puppies are growing, physically, and socially. Plus... this is the stage where "poo happens"... very often. It keeps us on our toes.
Have a great, Doodle kind of day,
Katie
